mercer luxury hotels
Mercer Hoteles introduces its new project in Barcelona which consists of 6 super luxury apartments for long stays, as well as superb historic halls for private events in the Palau Moxó former mansion in the Gothic Quarter.
Apartments will combine original architectural elements of the bourgeois palace with a modern and sophisticated interior design. They will feature doorman, concierge and maintenance services as well as a gym. In addition, guests will enjoy Mercer Barcelona facilities and services (such as the pool and breakfast), the 5-star hotel set just a few metres away on the same street.
Located opposite the Sant Just church, Palau Moxó is a baroque mansion from 1770 commissioned by the Moxó family to the architect Francisco Mestres, master builder of the Barcelona Cathedral. It was the family residence until 2000, the same year in which the Palau was declared a Cultural Asset of Local Interest. It is one of the few baroque palaces that was not bombed during the Spanish Civil War and it constitutes an outstanding example of 18th century civil architecture in the city. A real gem.
During the renovation of the Palau façade and the transformation into 6 luxury apartments, all valuable heritage elements -as ceilings, floors and balconies- have been restored.
Among the spectacular halls or events, there is the old library, the Sant Mori room (with a magnificent painted ceiling with an allegorical theme), the Montcortés room (decorated with borders and mouldings on its walls), the Rocabertí room (the old family dining room) or the old stables: Halls of great historical value and exceptional beauty for high-class private events.
